Does Oppo know of a brand and process for rust proofing the undercarriage of cars? I drive a late 90's 4Runner and they are know to rust out. I want to make sure that doesn't happens so I stumbled upon the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I'm going to look into this especially since it'll end up costing me less than $200. Has anyone ever done something like this? I think there some rubberized paint too that helps. Have a Top Gear Apocalypse panther

The only brand I know of is Waxoyl:

Well, and Trucoat...

I've heard that you can just gloss the underside, if you don't really care too much. No idea if it works or is worth the effort, but if you have a load of free gloss to use, might make sense.

From what I understand, Krown is the best out there in terms of franchised shops that do that work, they have a much better reputation than Ziebart.

I have used probably gallons of it at this point.

Rundown:

1.) IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY THE SURFACE NEEDS TOOTH FOR THE COATING TO STICK. If it doesn't, the POR will peel off in sheets/chips and will not accomplish your goal. Sandblasted, etched, or any type of roughed up surface works best.

2.) It is UV sensitive so anywhere it will see light needs to be topcoated or it will fade

3.) Wear gloves and clothes you can throw away. If you get it on your skin it will not come off unless you remove that layer of your skin. So unless you take a pumice stone to your skin it will be 2 weeks or so for it to wear off.

Just so you don't waste the $$$ on POR only to have it come off. It works great if you take care in its application.

There are a few methods, right now im leaning towards the spray on gearoil/used motor oil combo over the full treatment route. just apply it once or twice a month and don't worry.

Hmmm interesting. If you'd go with a "once and be done" method, what would you go with? I think I want there to be something I apply once and never have to even think about it again.

there is only 1 apply once and be done with it system: Hot dipped galvanized. Seriously, even POR15 is a recoat product if you do it perfect, though it is good.
